Mr Aaron Shum speaks at Bank of China (Hong Kong) Seminar 

 
Mr Aaron Shum, President of Aaron Shum Jewelry Group, was invited by Bank of China (Hong Kong) and Institute of Professional Education and Knowledge (PEAK), to speak at the bank’s internal training seminar with a speech on “Investing in Luxury Jewelry and Jewelry Industry Analysis”. The seminar was well received with approximately 100 practitioners attending. 
 
Bank of China (Hong Kong) management Mr Chu Kar Ming, Assistant Manager in Commercial Business, Mr Fu Kim, Assistant Manager and Head of Commercial Business, Mr Chris Leung, Senior Manager in Commercial Business, Miss Deborah Chui, Head of Strategic Planning, as well as Dr Lilian Wong, Principal of PEAK also attended the seminar. 
 
In the seminar, Mr Shum covered a broad range of topics from jewelry investment to jewelry industry analysis. First, he stated the unique advantages of jewelry as an investment. He quoted a research paper from an overseas university that the return of jewelry has significantly outperformed the stock market between 1999 and 2010. Besides, Mr Shum also analyzed the price 
performance of precious metals, such as gold, silver and platinum in the past 10 and 30 years, and the growth rate and auction price of precious stones like diamond, ruby and sapphire. In order to provide the bank practitioners a better understanding of jewelry industry, Mr Shum also outlined the history of Hong Kong jewelry industry development. He discussed the challenges that Hong 
Kong jewelry industry faces and its prospects. Meanwhile, Mr Shum recounted the jewelry industry had undergone three revolutions, and he expected the forth revolution will be evolved from brand building. He quoted from its own flagship brand, Coronet Solitaire, which was awarded Hong Kong Top Brand, to demonstrate the importance and advantages of building a brand. 

Mr Shum commented that Hong Kong jewelry industry should develop its domestic market in the Mainland China. He shared the information about consumption behavior of Mainland consumers and their impressions towards Hong Kong jewelry brands. Last but not least, Mr Shum expressed his expectations to banking services and encouraged the bank to fulfill the needs of jewelry 
industry. 
 
In the Q&A session, various questions were raised by enthusiastic participants. They were curious to learn more about jewelry knowledge and most of them were deeply impressed by Mr Shum’s great presentation skills.
